Cheap Car Insurance For Women - How to Get the Best Rates

by Brian Stevens

Statistically, women have fewer accidents than men and therefore
have lower insurance rates. Even so, if you're a woman you still
want to get the cheapest insurance you can. Here's how to do
just that.

Compare Rates

Because women's insurance rates can vary as much as $1,000
between companies for the same type of policy, the first thing
you need to do is to find the company with the best rates.

The quickest and easiest way to that is to go to an online
insurance comparison website. There you'll get get quotes from
top-ranked companies so you can compare rates. (See link below.)

Maximize Your Discounts

Once you're on the comparison site you'll need to fill out an
online questionnaire so you can get a quote that fits your
needs. As you fill out the questionnaire you'll be able include
discounts for your policy. Here are the ones that will save you
the most money:

* Increase you deductible if you can afford to pay it.

* Decline collision and comprehensive coverage if your car is
worth less than your premium.

* Decline medical coverage if you already have medical
insurance that covers you.

* Decline towing coverage if you have it through AAA or
somewhere else.

* If you have two cars, insure them with the same company.

* Decline rental car coverage if you don't want it.

* Include all the discounts you're entitled to for security
features like anti-theft devices, airbags, anti-lock brakes, and
automatic seat belts.

Last, but not least, you'll want to go to a consumer rating site
like Epinions.com to get the inside scoop on the company you
choose, to find out how they treat their customers and how
quickly they pay their claims.

Visit http://www.LowerRateQuotes.com or click on the following
link to get free car insurance quotes from A-rated companies
and see how much you can save. You can get more insurance tips by

Specific type of car insurance policy coverages

by RGann

It is important for you to understand what coverages are
involved when you get a car insurance policy. Each of these
details covers different areas. If you do look for a car
insurance policy, it is good to make sure you get it in any
combination you want, but make sure to get it from the same
company; to avoid any complications later, when and where as
claims are involved.

The type of car insurance policy coverages are:

Liability to Bodily Injuries

This type of car insurance is a basic requirement in most, if
not all, areas and countries. Liability to bodily injuries
provide coverage in other people's bodily injuries or death for
which you are responsible. It also provides for a legal defense
if another party in the accident files a lawsuit against you.
Claims for bodily injury may be for such things as medical
bills, loss of income or pain and suffering. In the event of a
serious accident, you want enough insurance to cover a judgment
against you in a lawsuit, without jeopardizing your personal
assets. Bodily injury liability covers injury to people, not
your vehicle. Therefore, it's good idea to have the same level
of coverage for all of your cars. Bodily Injury Liability does
NOT cover you or other people on your policy. Coverage is
limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy.

Normally the country or state limits are usually low; in fact
too low, to protect you sufficiently. Purchasing higher bodily
liability car insurance would not increase your premium too
much. So if you can consider getting a higher and better
coverage. There is no deductible.

Liability to Property Damages

This type of car insurance covers damages to someone esle's
property. May it be the other party's car or other vehicles
involved in the accident, but it also covers other type of
property such as buildings or public properties ( such as lamp
posts, barriers etc). It also pays for legal costs. It also
covers you personally, members of your family and those you gave
permission to drive your car.

Check with your local car insurance company for the basic
requirements. There is no deductible.

Collision Insurance

Car Insurance coverage for collision covers damages to your car
when your car hits, or is hit by, another vehicle, or other
object. It pays to fix your vehicle less the deductible you
choose. To keep your premiums low, select as large a deductible
as you feel comfortable paying out of pocket. For older cars,
consider dropping this coverage, since coverage is normally
limited to the cash value of your car. Coverage is limited to
the terms and conditions contained in the policy.

Collision insurance carries a deductible, and the maximum you
can collect for repair costs is limited to the value of your car
proir to the accident minus the deductible. This coverage is
optional. so it is wise to consider carefully whether you need
it or not. Weigh the vaule of your car against the premium ypu
have to pay to cover it.The cost of the collision car insurance
is determined by the value of your car, or how much it would
cost you to make a replacement if it were totaled in an
accident. Add the deductibles to cost of the collision insurance
for the car. If it exceeds the market value of the care,
collsion insurance is a waste of your money because you will be
paying out more than you can ever collect if you have an
accident that totals your car. If the deductible and collision
insurance combined are less than the value of your car, then
collision insurance makes sense. As the age of your car
increases, the cost to replace it goes down, so before renewing
your policy every year, make a assessment whether or not it
makes sense to keep the collision insurance.

Comprehensive Insurance

Comprehensive Insurance Coverage Covers your vehicle, and
sometimes other vehicles you maybe driving for losses resulting
from incidents other than collision. For example, comprehensive
insurance covers damage to your car if it is stolen; or damaged
by flood, fire, or animals, falling objects, explosions,
earthquakes, riots and civil commotions or even if your car is
overturned during a natural disaster. It pays to fix your
vehicle less the deductible you choose. To keep your premiums
low, select as high a deductible as you feel comfortable paying
out of pocket. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions
contained in the policy.

Compressive coverage is normally not compulsory in most
countries. How much you carry is up to you and should never
insure your car for more than its actual cash or market value.
Damages not associated with accidents can still be rather
expensive, and so it is advantageous to include comprehensive
car insurance coverage on your car insurance policy.

Medical Expenses Insurance

Medical Expenses Insurance covers medical expenses to you and
your passengers injured in an accident. There may also be
coverage if as a pedestrian a vehicle injures you. Coverage is
limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy. It
pays the medical bills, disability, lost in wages, even the costs
for furnetal. It Does NOT matter who is at fault, and covers
you, your family members and passengers in you car.

Coverage for Uninsured Motorists

This coverage pays for injuries to you and your passengers in
you car if you are involved in an accident, and that party does
not have insurance. You will be covered if you got clobbered by
a hit-and-run driver.Normal this type of car insurance coverage
is mandatory. Uninsured motorist's coverage increases the payout
to make sure you get the protection you need.

Buying a New Car? Pick the Safest and Save on Car Insurance

by Dean Larson

If you're going to be purchasing a new car in the near future,
you may want to think about how the car is going to affect your
car insurance rates. Believe it or not, the car you choose will
definitely affect how low or high your car insurance rates will
be, but you can choose a safer car to ensure that you get low
rate car insurance that is affordable. The following are some of
the safest cars that you can buy and purchasing a safer vehicle
will result in great savings on your car insurance.

Volkswagen Passat - In 2006, the number one rated family sedan
for safety was the Volkswagen Passat GLX, which has a V6 engine.
This car provided excellent safety features designed by
Volkswagen and tested out to be the safest car in the family
sedan category. If you want a nice family car that is fairly
inexpensive and also very safe for your family, this is a great
choice!

Toyota Camry - Still in the class of family sedans, the Toyota
Camry came in second place in 2006, right behind the Volkswagen
Passat. The Camry is a bit cheaper than the Passat, and also
comes with great safety features that make it one of the best
choices if you want a car that is safe for your family.

Volkswagen Golf - If you are looking for a smaller car, but you
still want great safety, you may want to consider the Volkswagen
Golf as your next choice. In smaller cars, the Golf won the
number one spot for safety with the great safety features
offered by the Volkswagen automaker.

Honda Civic EX - Another smaller car that was high on the safety
list, scoring number two, is the Honda Civic EX. Once again,
this car is a bit more cost friendly than the Volkswagen Golf,
and it still comes with excellent safety features that will keep
you safe and help you get lower car insurance rates. If you are
purchasing a car on a budget but want to make sure it has great
safety features as well, then this car is an excellent buy.

Honda CR-V - If you are looking for a small SUV with a great
safety rating, you may want to consider purchasing the Honda
CR-V. While usually you will pay more to insure a SUV, the Honda
CR-V provides safety features and a great safety rating that
will help you save.

Toyota Highlander - If you want a larger SUV but you want to
make sure the vehicle is safe, the Toyota highlander is a great
choice. The Highlander is one of the cheaper SUV's available and
comes with a great safety rating that will have you driving with
confidence.

When you're going to purchase a new car, you want to look at the
cost of the car, but you also want to check out how much it will
cost to insure your car as well. Picking a car that has a high
safety rating and great safety features can save you a great
deal of money on car insurance rates each year. Take control of
your car insurance rates and purchase a vehicle that will keep
you safe and help you find low rate car insurance.

What Does a Car Insurance Policy Covers?

by RGann

Liability to bodily injuries Liability to property damages
Collision Insurance Comprehensive Insurance Medical Expenses
Insurance Coverage for uninsured motorists

It is important for you to understand what all these do for you
when you get a car insurance policy. Each of these details
covers different areas. Normally they are lumped together in a
car insurance policy. But you can always separate them. If you
do look for a car insurance policy, it is good to make sure you
get it in any combination you want, but make sure to get it from
the same company; to avoid any complications later, when and
where as claims are involved.

In general car insurance falls in two categories. Namely,
property coverage for damages to your car, and liability
coverage to others' vehicles and properties involved. They type
and level of liability car insurance you have to be insured is
subjected to regulations imposed by the area authority you are
in. Requirements varies from areas you

are in, but it always wise to insure more that the minimum
required, so as to protect you sufficiently.

To get the best deal on the car insurance you will need you
should get familiar with all the options available in the

coverage. Determine your local authority's requirements, and
then specifies what is needed for you. Decide on the type of

deductibles you need and the premiums you are willing to pay.
Check with the car insurance company or the agent you approached
for

discounts you may have or entitled due to your good driving
record (sometime termed as "no claim bonused"). Go about asking
for quotes

from differennt car insurance companies and talk to as many
agents as possible.

The Secret To To Getting Cheap Car Insurance In NC

by Elizabeth Newberry

Is it possible to get cheap car insurance in NC if your driving
record is less than perfect and your car's included on this
year's list of cars most at threat for being stolen? Actually,
it is possible. While your North Carolina car insurance company
may not be throwing discounts at you left and right, you can
still find a way to get cheap car insurance.

Aside from taking advantage of discounts offered by car
insurance companies, the simplest way to get cheap car insurance
is by purchasing only the minimum requirements. North Carolina's
minimum car insurance requirements are $25,000 for coverage of
property damage; $30,000 for coverage of the bodily injury of
one person; and $60,000 for coverage of the bodily injury of two
or more persons.

So, how do you know if purchasing the state's minimum car
insurance requirements is the right option for you to obtain
cheap car insurance in NC?

If your car is completely paid for, you may consider purchasing
the minimum car insurance requirements in NC. If you borrowed
money to purchase your car, your lender will most likely require
you to purchase full coverage car insurance in NC; however, once
your car is completely paid for and only in your name, you are
free to put any kind of car insurance on it you want. This means
you can purchase the minimum car insurance requirements for the
state.

Another instance in which you may want to purchase the minimum
car insurance requirements in NC is if you are a student, or you
are just entering the workforce. Students spend most of their
time in class or studying, so finding a job that will pay high
car insurance premiums is difficult. People who have just
entered the workforce are trying to get on their feet and
settled. Once students graduate and once new employees get on
their feet, more car insurance can be purchased.

Some Tips And Advice On How To Get Cheap Car Insurance For Teens

by Elizabeth Newberry

A good piece of advice for helping your teen get cheap car
insurance is to make sure your teen becomes a safe and
experienced driver. Car insurance companies offer the cheapest
rates to those drivers who have stellar driving records, i.e.,
minimal or no traffic tickets and accidents.

You may be surprised to read that one of the main steps you can
take to ensure your teen becomes a safe and experienced driver
is to allow your teen to drive often. Think about it: if your
teen does not get any driving practice, how is he supposed to
become experienced? And without driving experience, how is your
teen supposed to know how to handle certain driving situations?

You can not just hand your teen the keys when it is time to
leave for college. You must help your teen become a safe and
experienced driver before he leaves the nest. Below are some
tips to get started.

Save yourself the effort. One way to help your teen become an
experienced driver is to let him run your errands - even if it
is just a quick trip to the grocery store. Wouldn't you rather
kick off your shoes before starting dinner than stand in line
for bread and milk?

Take advantage of the weather. Do not refuse to let your teen
drive if it is snowing or raining. The seasons won't stop
changing when you're no longer around to shelter your teen, so
you may as well prepare him for all driving conditions.

Go cruising. Let your teen take you for a Saturday spin once in
a while. He will benefit from the relaxed driving atmosphere.

Watch your teen's driving habits. Each time you and your teen
are in the car together, pay close attention to your teen's
driving habits. Do not scrutinize or criticize your teen - that
will only make him nervous. Praise the good moves, and correct
the errors.

The Secret To Getting Really Cheap Car Insurance In New York

by Elizabeth Newberry

New York State is a no-fault state in terms of car insurance
coverage. Simply put, this means your car insurance policy will
cover you, and the other guy's car insurance policy will cover
him, regardless of who was at fault for the damages.

You can purchase New York's minimum car insurance requirements
just the same as you would in any other state in America;
however, New York's minimum car insurance coverage requirements
are a bit more in-depth as far as coverage goes, and pricier as
far as costs go.

The minimum car insurance coverage in New York is as follows:

$10,000: Property damage liability $50,000: Basic, no-fault
coverage

Bodily injury liability: For injury, $25,000 per person and
$50,000 per accident. For death, $50,000 per person, and
$100,000 per accident.

Uninsured motorist's coverage: For injury, $25,000 per person
and $50,000 per accident. For death, $50,000 per person, and
$100,000 per accident.

Of course, if you don't own your car out-right, i.e., you
borrowed money from a lender to help pay for it, you may have to
purchase more car insurance than the minimum.

Despite the high costs of the minimum car insurance
requirements, it is possible to get cheap car insurance in New
York. Shop around with a few NY car insurance companies
(remember, drivers in New York must purchase car insurance from
a company licensed to do business in New York) and ask about
what kinds of discounts they offer. Some discounts are pretty
standard, such as those for good students and multi-line
policies; other discounts may be unique to that particular car
insurance company.

You may also make changes on your own to your car. Make sure it
is up-to-date with safety features such as anti-theft alarm
systems and reinforced window. Child-proof locks aren't only
safe, but impressive to car insurance companies. And instead of
leaving your car in the side of the street, store it in a
garage.

Car Insurance For People Aged Over Fifty

by Steve Hill

Are you aged over fifty and currently on the look out for car
insurance? Are you fed up with paying such high premiums for
your car insurance? Are you looking for a very cheap car
insurance quote? In this article, I am going to write about the
ways in which people who are over the age of fifty can obtain a
very cheap car insurance quote.

There are many companies now offering cheap car insurance to all
of those people aged over fifty. If you are one of these people,
it is time to take advantage of this. Insurance companies have
realised that this group of people have grown out of their "boy
racer" days and are far more content to drive in a relaxed
manner. This of course in turn leads to far less overall claims
and hence the cheaper premiums.

The next question has to be, where do I find these companies who
are willing to offer this competive car insurance qoute? The
first place to look has to be the internet. The web is not there
just for the under forties to enjoy, many a silver surfer are
known to browse the internet each and every day. I always like
to search for products via Google.com. If you enter into the
search box things like, very cheap car insurance for people aged
over fifty, you will see lots of companies who are ready to
quote you a price.

The insurance companies can also be found advertising on the
television and on the radio. Whichever option you choose, make
sure you do not miss out on the great car insurance deals that
are currently available to you.

How To Get The Best Car Insurance Company

by Elizabeth Newberry

Obviously, everyone wants a car insurance company that offers
them the best coverage at the best rates; however, there are
more things to consider when you are shopping for the best car
insurance company. You want to choose a car insurance company
that isn't just out to lure policyholders - you want an
insurance company that will treat you right.

Keep these factors in mind.

Rates, Payments, and Rewards

You want to choose a car insurance company that offers different
payment options, rather than just one option of payment set in
stone. Many car insurance companies allow their policyholders to
choose between paying in installments - usually monthly or
quarterly - or paying the entire premium at once. Some companies
even offer discounts to policyholders who choose to pay their
premiums in one lump sum.

Ask if the insurance company recognizes drivers who do not drive
much; some companies lower rates for that. Some also offer
discount rewards for those driver who go long periods of time
without filing any claims.

Discounts, Discounts, Discounts!

Look for companies offering a multitude of discounts. You may
not be eligible for every one of them, but the more they offer,
the higher your chances are of being eligible for a few of them.
A few discounts that may be of interest to you include discounts
for safe drivers and teenage drivers who make good grades;
discounts for active or retired military personnel; discounts
for buying more than one insurance policy from the same
insurance company; and discounts for having anti-theft and
additional safety equipment installed in/on your car.

Extras

Car insurance companies offer various extras that policyholders
can add on to their car insurance policies. An example of an
extra would be roadside assistance. While some companies offer
roadside assistance as a standard extra, some offer it as an
add-on. These add-ons are nice, but if you're not careful they
could simply hike up your premiums.

Young Female Cheap Car Insurance

by Elizabeth Newberry

If you're a female driver, you already have a head start for
getting cheap car insurance. Car insurance companies take into
consideration statistics claiming that, overall, female drivers
are:

* More likely to drive a safer car than male drivers.

* Less likely to commit traffic violations and get traffic
tickets than male drivers.

* More likely to choose an economical car that gets good gas
mileage and doesn't cost a fortune to repair.

According to statistics, female drivers also file fewer car
insurance claims to their car insurance companies than do male
drivers; whether this means that female drivers are involved in
fewer accidents or that they just don't report every bump and
scratch is up for interpretation.

In any event, statistically speaking, most female drivers are
less risky to insure than most male drivers, which means they
are more likely to get cheap car insurance than are male drivers.

However, if you're a young female driver, you still have an
obstacle to overcome. It's a big obstacle, actually - your age.
Young drivers, regardless of gender, normally don't get the
cheap car insurance quotes that older drivers get. Car insurance
companies take precaution when offering car insurance quotes to
young drivers - male and female - because they are
inexperienced. Of course, inexperience means a great risk for
car accidents.

Don't let these statistics discourage you. Being a young female
driver also means you have time to start taking the necessary
steps to build a great driving record. As long as you drive
safely, preventing car accidents, and obey the rules of the
road, preventing infractions and tickets, you will avoid points
on your driving record. Car insurance companies look at a
driver's driving record when deciding how cheap the car
insurance quote should be.

Also take a driver education course. Most high schools offer
them, but if yours doesn't you can take one from a private
company in your area.

A Lady Gets A Cheap Car Insurance Quote?

by Elizabeth Newberry

Yes, it is true - well, in most cases. Many lady drivers are
able to get cheaper car insurance quotes than men drivers. Are
men drivers cursed by their gender? Perhaps not. They just need
to know the secrets of lady drivers.

Buy a safe vehicle. Safe vehicles get cheaper car insurance
quotes than vehicles considered unsafe, and safety does not only
include seatbelts, air bags, and child proof locks. A safe
vehicle will also include anti-theft devices.

Buy a modest vehicle. Modest vehicles are less likely to be
stolen, and vehicles that are less likely to be stolen are less
like to be expensive to insure. You don't have to buy a minivan
to get a cheap car insurance quote, but buying a Jaguar isn't
going to work in your favor.

Be good to your vehicle. Being good to your vehicle means not
putting your vehicle in situations where it can become damaged
or stolen. Drive like you have some since - do not push its
limits. Park your vehicle in a garage when it is not in use. If
you do not have a garage, find out about renting garage space in
your area - if you have one within walking distance, or
installing a bright outdoor light near where your vehicle is
parked.

Drive responsibly. Driving responsibly includes driving the
speed limit, obeying road signs and traffic lights, and
following the general "rules of the road" altogether. When you
drive responsibly, you avoid traffic citations and car
accidents, and when you do not have these kinds of blemishes on
your driving record, car insurance companies see you as a
responsible driver. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.
Responsible drivers with clean driving records get cheaper car
insurance quotes.

Grow up. Alright, maybe "grow up" would be better phrased "grow
older." The older and more experienced a driver gets, the lower
the car insurance quotes and rates become - regardless of
gender.

How To Buy A Car And Get A Cheap Car Insurance Quote!

by Elizabeth Newberry

If your car is completely paid for, chances are you've dropped
the full coverage car insurance your lender was requiring and
now simply have your state's minimum liability insurance
requirement. However, there's no getting around it - when you
need to buy a new car, you need to buy a new car. Having your
state's minimum liability insurance is not worth your safety,
after all; nor is it worth the money you will spend in repairs
if your car is in bad shape.

The good news is it's possible to get a cheap car insurance
quote when you buy a new car. You just have to keep that cheap
car insurance quote in mind as you are shopping for your new car.

The surest way to get a cheap car insurance quote when you buy a
new car is to make sure your new car is as safe as possible;
undoubtedly, the safety features of your new car will affect
your decision anyway. The safety features most car insurance
companies look for include those that keep everyone safe; those
that prevent your car from being broken into and/or stolen; and
those that are compatible with external safety features.

In order to keep yourself, your passengers, other drivers, and
pedestrians safe, make sure the new car you buy has anti-lock
brakes, automatic safety belts, and air bags for each passenger.
You may also want to look into child safety locks.

Help keep the new car you buy from being broken into and stolen
by purchasing a car with automatic locks and a safety alarm
system. If you can't find a car with a safety alarm system, you
can always have one installed.

External safety features include child safety seats, and many
car manufacturers are now designing cars that are more
compatible with these seats.

When you buy a new car, put safety first in order to get a cheap
car insurance quote.

Car Insurance Companies Aim to Lower Premiums

by Kathryn Lang

Low premium insurance companies are on the rise. Companies like
Admiral Car Insurance are specializing in niche markets. This
gives them the ability to cut costs in a variety of areas, and
it allows the companies to pass these savings on to the consumer.

Admiral Car Insurance was unique to the market when it launched
in 1993. Although it wrote policies for all types of car
insurance, it targeted the higher risk drivers (like younger
drivers and those drivers with performance vehicles).
Traditionally these consumers were forced to pay higher rates.
Admiral Car Insurance, and many other niche insurance companies
that are in the market, are setting about to change the status
quo.

The internet has seen the rise of many of these lower rate
insurance companies. The technology gives companies the
opportunities to cut out the traditionally cost prohibitive
steps of acquiring car insurance. There is no need for a
middleman, extra forms, or even multiple onsite facilities. The
process is much more simple and easier for consumers to
understand - and it is all right at the touch of a button.

The lower premiums do not automatically mean lower quality in
the services that are provided. Consumers will be pleasantly
surprised to find that these policies offer the same benefits as
other car insurance policies. Admiral Car Insurance offers
policy holders benefits that range from courtesy cars when
repairs are needed because of an accident to free windscreen
cover repair and replacement.

Most of these car insurance companies not only offer great rates
to begin with, but they also offer opportunities to lower the
rates even further. There are discounts available to consumers
who insure multiple vehicles, have a period of time where there
are no claims filed, and even a discount for students that have
good grades.

Admiral Insurance Company is just one of many insurance
companies that are finding creative ways to decrease premiums
for consumers while maintaining the quality of service.

Internet Effects Car Insurance

by Kathryn Lang

Many insurance companies, like Direct Line Car Insurance, have
been looking for creative ways to increase their profit margins.
One of the directions the situations that these companies are
looking at is the cutting of the middleman.

In the past, consumers were forced to work with an insurance
agent. For many years, this was a door-to-door sales position.
Later, the move was to branch offices. Today, technology has
stepped in and consumers can have direct contact with the
insurance companies through the internet.

By cutting out the middlemen, the insurance companies save the
huge commission fees that were paid out for the policy sales.
These savings are being passed on to the consumers.

Direct Line Car Insurance made its mark on the insurance
industry in 1985 when it launched its company with only one way
for consumers to purchase policies - by telephone. It exists
today as an insurance company whose main source of communication
with consumers is by the telephone.

Since that day, many companies have either started out as phone
sales, or made a move in that direction. The internet has only
increased the control that consumers have in their policy
decisions.

The internet has also forced insurance companies - Direct Line
Car Insurance included - to compete heavily for their consumer
base. The ease of comparison on the computer makes it necessity
for insurance companies to offer the best rates and the best
customer service or else risk losing consumers to the
competitors.

Increased competition means even better rates and perks for the
consumer.

The competition will only continue to grow as consumers become
more educated and shopping savvy. This will force companies to
expand their base. Direct Line Car Insurance is already on the
move. It is currently doing business in Germany, Italy, and
Spain. In 2001, it expanded into the United States with the
acquisition of All State insurance company.

The UK Consumer's Guide to Shopping for Car Insurance Online

by Mary Simone

To be truly successful at shopping for car insurance online, the
consumer must find the best deal available on the Internet, not
merely the first offer for cover that appears on the screen. The
good news is that the World Wide Web alleviates the need to
travel from one insurance office to the next, as a click of the
mouse has replaced the need for an afternoon off, a telephone
call, and even a tank full of petro for the car.

It may or may not come as a surprise, but there are quite a few
factors that influence the price and coverage of your car
insurance policy, including the vehicle you drive. If you're
insuring a car you already own, be sure to check with a variety
of insurers for the best deal. If you're out shopping for a new
auto and looking for the best prices, such things as the car's
age, engine size, power, and theft rate each have a different
effect on the overall premium cost.

Another important factor when shopping for car insurance is one
that a driver has absolutely no control over, and that's their
age. For the newer drivers, the lack of experience usually leads
to more moving violation and accidents, which translate into
more claims and loss of funds for the insurer. Generally
speaking of course, the premiums for your auto insurance will
drop as you gain more experience. The average 50 year old
searching for the best insurance deal will be much more
successful, more quickly than someone who has just graduated
from school.

If your auto has a loan on it from a bank or other financial
institution, it's a wise idea to carry "gap cover" on your
insurance policy. This type of coverage will protect both you
and the bank from an accident in which your car is completely
destroyed and the worth of your car falls short of the loan
balance due. If you don't have the proper gap cover, you will be
ultimately responsible for paying the remaining balance of the
auto loan. This is also considered to be "paying for a car you
don't have", so be sure to talk to your insurer about having the
adequate cover to protect both your car and your personal
finances.

Finally, the last bit of guiding involves shopping around and
getting a variety of quotes for an assortment of coverage
options from several different insurers. But just when you
thought the Internet couldn't have made life any easier,
websites devoted to the auto insurance industry pop up to make
comparison-shopping easier than anyone ever thought possible.

Car Insurance: If Your Driving Record Is Bad, Can You Still Save

by Scott Lunt

We all make mistakes. Unfortunately your car insurance
may be higher because of a bad driving record. There still may
be some things you can do to save money. Think about the
following:

Raise your deductibles. It takes time to improve your
driving record. In the meantime, you may want to see if raising
the deductible on your comprehensive and collision coverage can
get you a lower premium.

Get a less expensive car. With a less expensive car, you
may be able to lower your insurance costs by having only
collision coverage and not comprehensive coverage.

Eliminate some of those features. Extra features like
rental car reimbursement and towing coverage are handy to have,
but they could be adding to your car insurance costs. It's
probably a good time to consider getting rid of features you can
live without.

Boost your credit rating. More often than not, insurance
companies these days use credit scores when they are assessing
how much risk a driver is. They say that there is a correlation
between poor credit scores and higher risk. The higher the risk
you are to them, the more they will charge. In this day and age,
it's just a good idea all around to improve your credit score.

Compare car insurance quotes. You'd be surprised at how
car insurance costs can vary between companies. Spend time
getting comparison quotes from at least three different
companies. To get accurate comparisons, make sure you are
comparing the same coverages and features between companies. And
remember: car insurance companies work hard to combat insurance
fraud and can find out when an applicant is lying. Be truthful
about your driving record; it may seem expensive now, but if you
are canceled because they discovered that you lied, your car
insurance will be only more expensive and more difficult to get
in the future.

Car Insurance Quotes Online And What You're Paying For

by Scott Lunt

When you're shopping for car insurance online it's a good
idea to know what you're paying for. That way you'll have a
better idea of how you can save money and still get the right
coverage for your situation.

First of all, you can get accurate comparison quotes. Comparison
quotes are the best way to find out if you can save on car
insurance.

Secondly, you might find out that you are paying for coverages
you don't need. By eliminating those you could possibly save
with a lower premium.

Several factors influence how much you pay for car insurance,
including:

Your age -- Insurance companies will often give you a
lower rate if you are over 25.

The mileage you drive -- Typically the more miles you
drive per year, the greater the risk a car insurance company
will consider you to be, which can increase your premium.

Your driving record -- This should be obvious. More
tickets, more accidents mean you're going to spend more on car
insurance.

Length of time since you've had car insurance -- If you
haven't had car insurance for awhile, you may pay more at first.

The type of car you drive -- Different insurance
companies rate cars differently as far as risk of loss. Repair
costs, the likelihood of theft or the inherent risk (such as a
sports car) that's attributed to a car affects how much it costs
to insure.

Where you live -- Different areas of the country or a
city can be considered high or low risk by most car insurance
companies based on crime rates, costs of medical care and more.

What your coverages, features and deductibles are -- The
more coverages you have, the lower your deductibles and add-on
features such as rental car reimbursement can all add more to
the cost of your policy.

The most important thing is to make sure you comparison shop.
Car insurance costs can vary between companies by quite a bit
and you should try to get at least three different quotes for
comparison, using the same coverages and features so your
comparison is equal.
